27th Dec’09

2 months ago my bestie invited me to my god-daughter Penelopy’s 3rd birthday celebration. The venue was @ Ellenborough Market Cafe , Merchant Court Hotel.

Time flies & she has grown so much. And parents nowadays are really doting towards their kids! See the princess outfit on Penelopy… It cost about $60-70+ from Mothercare & it’s from her dad Kenny =)

It even comes with a tiara but i was telling Phy that it looks like something that Wonderwoman was wearing! Haha…

As it was the X’mas month, the menu included some items that’s suits the X’mas theme =)

It’s my first time trying the food @ Ellenborough Market Cafe. Food was pretty decent & i may come back to try the high tea with Christina & Ivy =)

As you can see from Penelopy’s outfit & birthday cake, it’s a princess theme for her lah =)   And she was into Princess Aurora during that month!

Phy got a lovely cake from Bengawan Solo – love the crunchy chocolate bits in the cake!

It’s good that Phy created a list of “What To Buy” items for Penelopy’s birthday presents on her blog & i opt to buy this Disney Princess school bag.

But the bag is a little big for her now so i guess have to wait a while more before she gets to use it. Hee!

I was glad to have some time with Phy alone to have a nice chat when someone was helping to look after Penelopy. Thanks for inviting me to this birthday lunch buffet with all of you =)

2nd Round of Celebration

Dinner was @ my 外婆 house for her birthday celebration & we are having buffet dinner! 2 buffets in 1 day! =)

The 2 little ones are my cousins’ kids & they are so adorable lah =)

And here is the birthday girl =)  May my 外婆 be blessed with good health & lots of love!

Cause she has pretty bad asthma problems & i hope that will improve for her lah & may there be less conflicts bwtween the children (it all started with 1 of her children… Sianz)

May this world be filled with more & laughters =)

It’s another 1 – 1 offer from Women’s Weekly & this time the venue is @ Zenden Restaurant , Gallery Hotel.

I’m glad to have Grace to accompany me for lunch & i was really looking forward to this lunch as the reviews on hungrygowhere looks quite ok =)

I reached earlier so i managed to take pictures before the crowd starts coming in.

The above 2 pictures are the interior of the restaurant & display area for the food. I kind of like the purple & pink covers for the chairs – adds a nice contrast to the environment.

Since i had the 1 – 1 voucher, Grace & i decide to take the one with main course & carvery.

And starting from the next picture onwards, the food featured will be part of the buffet spread.

The concept here is quite interesting – It’s a semi buffet which consist of a main course (if you opt for it) + a buffet spread of appetizer, desserts , soup & some hot food.

Seeing the chocolate fondue is making me very happy already! =)  The range of cakes were quite ok too & there were fresh fruits.

There were also free flow tea & coffee.

Personally i love the cold section very much! My favourite items are the beef , prawns (very fresh) & Smoked Salmon (my all time favourite).

Soup was Pumpkin Soup & the taste was pretty good =)

Didn’t get to try the Gado Gado but i took the bread. It will be better if it’s more warm… Otherwise it’s still nice & soft and i happily spread butter on it to enjoy!

The hot food consist of about 3 choices – pork ribs , siew mai & the other one i can’t remember.

Both pork ribs & siew mai taste quite alright. But when the pork ribs is finished, i think they replaced it with another dish but i didn’t try.

Both Grace & i opt for the same main course which is Pan Fried Butter Fish “Nantua”. I find it so so only.

We didn’t even get to try the carvery station which is Roasted Pork Loin if i remember correctly. No time to try it! Haha.

We ended our meal with some fruits , ice cream & desserts =)

It was around this time when i felt kind of rushed. Cause when i called to make reservations, i was told that the buffet area will end @ 2pm.

But at 1.30pm , a staff came over to inform us that they have to prepare for a event & they will clear the buffet area soon. So Grace & i quickly went to grab whatever we want =_=

Other than this slightly unpleasant incident, i would say the service & food @ Zenden is pretty good =)  I don’t mind coming back again but this time i won’t get the main course & carvery as i find the buffet spread is sufficent already.

And i’ll make sure i reach earlier & enjoy the food slowly! By the way, there’s complimentry parking too =)  I remember when we exit the carpark, it show the complimentry parking value is $5 so should be enough during your stay @ Zenden for your meal.

It’s National Day & my dad was going to give his workers a treat.

And all of them are keen to go Vienna @ United Square again. I’ve been here quite a few times already for the buffet. Food are generally not bad & it’s good if you want variety!

The interior – This is the area where all the food are displayed. And i think the whole place went through some renovations cause certain areas look different.

page 2

At $38.80++ per pax is pretty expensive for such a location but the whole place is always packed. I guess the customers like the range of food as there’s a bit of everything here – chinese, western, japanese.

But one thing that i don’t like is that the tables are placed too near to each other – No privacy @ all if you want to have a nice chat. But in a way, they really make full use of the space!

So if you are coming in small group like about 4 people, try to request for the cushion seats that’s near the window, fountain side. I think will be better.

11th May’09

Today is my brother’s gf Angeline’s birthday =)  Hope you enjoy your birthday celebrations with my bro & your family today.

Happy Birthday & may your wish comes true!

8th May’09

Another busy day for me =)  Met up with Lisi & Joel @ Seletar Broadway to choose her gowns. The previous experience wasn’t so good as Lisi had a hard time choosing her evening gown as the variety wasn’t too good. But today they has new arrivals & it’s so much better =)

Very happy for her that she managed to get what she wants. Won’t be showing her gowns here but will be doing a special entry for her in Oct after her wedding =)

Anyway back to dinner!

This year we went to Edogawa @ Central (Clarke Quay). From the reviews on hungrygowhere, it was pretty positive so my bro & i decided on this place for jap buffet.

page 2

page 4

Main thing about jap buffet is to enjoy lots of good & fresh sashimi. And the ones @ Edogawa is good especially the yellowtail. It was really nice =)

And there’s this teppanyaki duck which i really enjoy! Overall the standard of the food is not bad & it was an enjoyable meal. And we were lucky to get a corner window seat with a nice night view of Clarke Quay.

And i must say the service @ Edogawa is quite good. Despite having quite a bit of china workers (no discrimination) @ this jap restaurant, they were nice & friendly. I thought one of the managers was quite good looking =)

Standard Chartered credit cards can get 10% off the buffet price so it cost about $40 per pax after the discount.

Before we end the dinner, i got them to serve Angeline her birthday cake! It’s actually only a slice! Hee… I got it @ TCC! Somehow i just like having a cake (whole or slice) or some sort of dessert with a candle on it for birthdays! I just find it more complete lah =)

After i’ve settled the bill, all of us went for a walk around Clarke Quay & it was nice & cooling. And i took quite a bit of pictures for my bro & Angeline – the very sweet couple =)

It was very relaxing just to walk around like this after dinner. I had an enjoyable night & i hope my bro & Angeline feels the same way =)

Once again…. Happy Birthday!! Hugz!

11th April’09 (Sat)

Time flies & it’s Clarice’s 1st birthday! I remember seeing her for the first time when she was just a few months old & she was so small. Hee!

My friend Liqing has organized a birthday party & its a buffet dinner that starts @ 5.30pm.

But i have plans with my bestie earlier in the day! I met her @ Punggol Plaza after she’s done with her mani & pedi =)  Suppose to have lunch first but Kenny wanted to go for chicken rice @ Downtown East.

So we went back to Phy’s place first & let her give Penelopy a shower while Kenny concentrated with his online games! Haiz.

I got Penelopy some Hello Kitty stickers & she was so happy. Kept wanting to take out the stickers =)  And she was having a lot of fun with it.

Currently she’s quite crazy about “Kitty” stuff so i suppose anything with cats will interest her! Hee.

Lunch @ Mr Chicken Rice

Quite looking forward to lunch as i was getting a bit hungry. And also we are going to Mr Chicken Rice which was open by the chef who was well known for his chicken rice @ Chatterbox Cafe , Mandarin Hotel.

I’ve never tried it when he was still @ Chatterbox Cafe so quite happy to be able to try out the chicken rice today.

I find the chicken rice pretty good. I’m no food critic so i’m not good with the description but somehow the chicken is done in the way i like it =)  Plus i kind of like the sesame oil mixture sauce which i’ll always like to put some into my rice =)

Chilli (very important) was good too! I kept dipping the slices of chicken into it. As for the vege, can’t go too wrong with the version with oyster sauce!

After lunch, all us went back to Phy’s place & i manage to get some rest! Penelopy was very nice to let me sleep on her bed. I slept but she didn’t & she either kept pulling my hair or scratch me to get my attention =_=

Clarice’s 1st Birthday Celebration

There were lots of kids around & can see Penelopy is enjoying herself.

And Liqing order a very nice cake for Clarice =)  The picture is of a cute little girl… Very nice esp the rosy cheeks part. And there was also a Barney jelly from Liqing’s SIL. Can see the kids go “crazy” when they saw it. Hee.

I myself like the Barney jelly too & i even got the contact from Liqing. In case i want to order one too =)  Lots of designs to choose from!

After the cake cutting, all of us went outside to sit & chit chat. It was good that Liqing’s flat was a ground floor unit so very spacious outside the house. Can sit anywhere you want.

And with me around, there be lots of picture taking =)

By the way, i don’t know why the top make me look so preggy that night =_= *sob*

It was great to catch up with everyone. But too bad Wileen can’t join us! Hope you recover soon =)

After we left Liqing’s place, we proceed on to Mac to chit chat.

It was quite amusing when i see Penelopy kept dipping her nugget into the curry sauce. Partly she like sauce – any kind as long she likes it. Haha.

It was a great day spent with my friends. And for my bestie, it was really great to spend the whole long weekend with her. I met her 3 days in a row! Haha… =)

Thanks to Women’s Weekly for the 1 for 1 booklet, i got the chance to try out quite a few new places which i’ve not been to =)

This time i went to Spice Brasserie at Parkroyal On Kitchener Road with my brother & Angeline. Heard from Angeline that it’s quite good =)

The interior

For the upper picture is part of the buffet spread. You can get sushi, sashimi, mee siam, steamed fish & stir fried vegetables.

And despite the 1 for 1 offer, there wasn’t much crowd. I find it a nice place for a quiet dinner

Now let’s see what we have eaten

It’s not just purely porridge buffet. It’s more like international spread =)  I find it not too bad & i quite enjoy the buffet. But i wish the choices for desserts could be more. And i didn’t quite enjoy the dessert part, not very nice in my opinion.

Service wise, they are quite ok. And there was a handsome waiter! =)  Makes the whole dinner even more pleasant for me. Haha

I’ve managed to try out 3 places from this Women’s Weekly 1 for 1 offer. Looking forward to the next one and see what else i can try =)

Another 1 for 1 promotion by Women’s Weekly =)  So i went with my brother & Angeline to try out the ala carte buffet recently on monday night.

But before i comment on the food, i want to complain about the service. When i called to make reservations, the first person who answer my call, told me that it was full already for monday dinner. And she sound sarcastic when she asked if i’m coming for the 1 for 1 promotion even before i mention it!

So i try again a few minutes later, this time it’s a guy who answer and he politely told me that reservation is available for monday night! Such extreme service by 2 different people ={

Anyway let’s talk about the food now!

Some of my favourites that i can remember are the steamed prawns, shark fins, prawn salad , sea cucumber & mushroom dish , yam ring (but not the sweet & sour pork) , sliced fish , Ee fu noodle , fried kway teow with venison , jelly fish , fried soon hock. Ate quite a lot, can’t remember all.

There’s also some which really can’t make it like Baked oysters in cheese & mustard (yucky combi), steamed scallop , spring chicken (i find it kind of bloody so i didn’t dare to try).

As all dishes comes in small portions so with 3 persons, we manage to try quite a lot of items.

By the time we had desserts, my tummy was about to explode! Haha. Personally i like the glutinous ball with grated peanuts & sesame & mango sago. Angeline enjoyed the red bean pancake a lot. Hee

This buffet is alright only but it’s the company that counts! =)  And since there’s 1 for 1 promo, it’s a good chance to try out new places lah. And thanks to my brother who treated me to this meal.

But if i were to try such chinese style ala carte buffet again, i’m keen to try out Peony Jade Restaurant & The Paramount =)  I heard the food are pretty good!
